From Old Phone to AI Platform: How It Started

October 2026 · AIGUIMI

Every founder has a strange starting point. Ours was a drawer full of old Android phones — the kind you keep "just in case" and never use. Instead of selling them for scrap, we asked a simple question: what if these phones could still do useful work?

The dusty phone that started it

One idle phone became a 24/7 dashcam for an old car. A second one ran quietly as a home helper. None of it needed a degree in computer science — just curiosity and a willingness to try. That small experiment planted the seed: ordinary people can put AI and old hardware to work without a lab.

Turning waste into a dashcam

The dashcam project taught us two things. First, the gap between "possible" and "usable" is mostly about good interface design. Second, the same phone could do far more if we gave it the right tools. We started bundling small utilities so a non-technical person could set one up in minutes.

From one tool to a toolbox

One utility became two, then ten. We grouped them into a toolbox: OCR for receipts, invoice helpers, image tools, data analysis, and more. Each tool solves a boring, real task that people do by hand every week. The toolbox is now the traffic gateway we always wanted — useful first, then people stay for the platform.

Why "AI for ordinary people"

Most AI news is about giant models and companies. We care about the person running a small shop, a factory, or a side hustle. If a tool needs a manual longer than a tweet, it won't get used. So we obsess over making AI feel like a helpful friend, not a black box.

"The factory is our root, e-commerce is our cash flow, and AI tools are our traffic gateway to the future."

That belief — rooted in a real bag factory, powered by AI, aimed at ordinary users — is the whole point of this journey. The next posts dig into going global and how the factory itself is changing.
